What are the Symptoms of Infertility

image

If you are trying to have a child, but are finding there are difficulties in being able to conceive, then you may want to consider the possibility of infertility. Knowing how to determine whether you are infertile or not is the beginning to finding possible solutions for the health difficulty.

Signs of Infertility

There are two main signs to look at when you are considering infertility. The first is if you have been trying to get pregnant for over a year, and have not been able to conceive. This time frame is a defining point for most doctors to determine whether you are fertile or not. The second main sign to look at is with the regularity of your menstrual cycles. If you skip some cycles or don't have a regular flow, then it may be attributed to difficulties within your reproductive system and may be stopping you from having children.

If you are looking at menstrual irregularities, you don't want to look at basic inconsistencies, but also types of patterns that may occur. The following are some of the inconsistencies women may have.

  • Amenorrhoea - If a woman has this type of menstrual problem, then it is attributed to not having her period by the age of 16. It is also linked to women who do not have their period for three or more months, even though they are not pregnant.
  • Premature Ovarian Failure - Many women will have a consistent menstrual cycle for a number of years, but it may stop before they reach 40. If this occurs, then you will notice by a movement into irregular cycles.
  • Oligomenorrhoea - The signs of this irregularity begin when women have infrequent periods. The difference between this and other menstrual cycle problems are related to PCOS, also known as polycystic ovary syndrome.
  • Uterine Fibroids - This is the most common problem among women who can not get pregnant and is related to women who do not have enough fibroids to become pregnant. Unlike other infertility problems, this is not a disease and is simply an imbalance. It can be reversed or altered, depending on the women's needs.
  • Dysmenorrhoea - Even though every woman has some pain and cramping during their period, this particular difficulty occurs when there is extreme pain during a menstrual cycle. At times, this is related to an ovarian infection or a cyst.
  • Menorrhagia - If you have heavy bleeding during your period, then it is also a sign of infertility. This is usually linked to a hormone imbalance and occurs in women that are older in age.

These particular problems are noticeable signs that there may be difficulties or problems with infertility. If you are uncertain about your conditions, you can get tests through doctors to determine the main problem. Doctors can provide a fertility evaluation, which includes a physical examination, followed by monthly tests to determine ovulation consistency and changes in things such as cervical mucus.

With these basic guidelines for finding signs for infertility, a woman can determine the exact problem related to fertility and the ability to conceive. Some of these difficulties may have solutions for pregnancy, while others result in the inability to become pregnant.
