How to Deal With Male Infertility

image

Infertility problems among individuals are known to be caused from reproductive problems. For men, these difficulties relate directly to the ability to produce sperm and to have the sperm move into the eggs of a woman. Beyond this, are specific concepts that are related to infertility in men and how it is caused. Infertility among men is attributed to 4% of the population.

Causes of Male Infertility

The first set of circumstances that cause male infertility are pre testicular causes. This means that problems with the endocrine, thyroid or other disorders stop sperm from producing sperm. Drugs and alcohol may also be attributed to this particular cause. In these instances, sperm is not able to be produced in high enough counts for women to become pregnant.

The second problem related to male infertility also affects the level of sperm available for pregnancy. However, this generates from a testicular factor. When this occurs, the Y chromosome in the genes are unable to produce enough sperm. This may be genetically related and is sometimes known to be linked to problems from trauma, mumps, varicocele or other types of failures that stop sperm from being able to produce.

Another problem associated with this is post testicular causes, usually which are linked to impotence, infections and other complications. Many also relate alternative problems to poor sperm count and the inability to produce the correct level of sperms. Habits such as smoking, for instance, may cause sperm count to lower. Another diagnosis is related specifically to the inability to produce the right sperm count, which can be divided into three categories, dependent on the reasoning behind this lower count.

Diagnosing Male Infertility

If a male thinks he is infertile, then receiving tests and diagnosis is the first step to define what is occurring. Having a general medical examination, followed by tests to determine hormone levels should be considered. Sperm samples for counts and measuring the semen also works to show what the specific problem may be with the infertility. From these two factors, a doctor can determine what the problems and causes may be for the infertility.

For anyone who is trying to become a father and is having difficulties, the first step would be to understand male infertility. Taking steps to determine whether you are infertile, and understanding the possible causes, can work together to determine what is happening and how this is related to the inability to become a father.
