Causes and Symptoms of Eczema

image

If you have skin that itches or forms rashes, you may be facing  the common skin problem of Eczema. This particular problem is noted for it's specific qualities among babies, children and adults. Understanding the conditions of this skin problem provides you with insight to the severity and level of the problem.

Symptoms of Eczema

Eczema is a special type of rash that is known because of it's specific symptoms. If you think you have Eczema, you want to look at symptoms such as:

  • cracking
  • swelling
  • redness
  • itching
  • scaling / crusting
  • fluid under the rash

The defined characteristics also include levels of swelling that further cause the skin to remain irritated from the problem.

What Causes Eczema

The most common complication related to Eczema comes from allergic reactions. If the skin touches something that it is not used to, it may cause the skin to respond by forming the swelling or itchiness. Another type of Eczema is formed from problems such as a blood flow problems, which stops the correct amount of nutrients to get to a place in the skin, and results in the same types of rashes.

While these are the main reasons behind Eczema, there are other reasons that cause the Eczema to flair up, even if you are not having a major reaction to something. For instance, if you are in a dry climate and are not using enough moisturisers, you can expect the eczema to become a problem. It is also possible that Eczema can move onto your skin by moving between extreme temperatures, as your skin tries to protect you from the cold to hot interchanges.

Preventing Eczema

Even though this particular problem is considered both temporary and minor compared to other types of skin problems, you want to make sure that you take care of the difficulty you may be having. Making sure you stay away from substances that cause allergic reactions help you with this. Being cautious of things such as soaps, wool, perfumes, dust, smoke and other toxic substances also prevents the Eczema from flaring up.

If your Eczema becomes more severe, you may want to try other techniques. If it is severe enough, talking to a doctor about medications is a possibility. However, simple habits, such as keeping your skin moist and staying away from things that cause allergic reactions may also help. You can also find assistance through taking in foods that help your body to keep the right balance. Combining simple measures and monitoring what you are around allows you to stop eczema from occurring on your skin.
